I had always thought love
to be a gradual thing.
Granted,
it's said it can be sudden
and catch you by surprise,
but I had thought that kind
reserved for movies and fairytales.
I should have known
that even wild myths,
such as love at first sight,
sprout and grow from truth.
Love caught me unaware -
I barely knew it
before I spoke the words
and suddenly,
I couldn't deny it to myself -
I was truly in love.
Then a second shock -
it did not scare me.
To be so emotionally intense,
so attached to one person
did not phase me
the way I've seen it on some.
On the contrary,
love has been one of
the most remarkable and
exhilirating experiences
in my life so far.
I pray it never fades.
With any luck,
and if love proves even truer to
the fairytale than I suspected,
I shall keep my charming prince,
and live happily ever after.
