A Foreign Affair

by Matt Forget

This girl I met one weekend night
Was full of cheer and such delight
No sign of fear and full of grace
A smile on that happy face.

The next day I was shocked to see
A frown on her face that was once glee
I wasn't sure as I walked by
Why this sweet girl would give such sigh

Later on that day I heard at heart
She never spoke a word our part
I was only French I found to be
The reason for her calamity

This perked me up and made me smile
I spoke french too yet twas a while
I would talk to her and make her glad
No need to worry, no need to be sad

Now she is leaving ang going away
Never to see her until a year from today
I looked at her car as she waved good-bye
"Au Revoir my sweet darling", I spoke out with a sigh.
