journey

by Stephanie Myers

Smells of stench rise through the air,
as I sift through the ashes of discontent.
Misalignment of the worlds collided,
into our universal dismay.

Off to the yellow brick road to find our fortune...

Along the way, picking thistles,
that prick us to bleed.
To remind that pain should be rendered,
with effervescence.

A gift of life is given each day,
to ones who deserve it less.
I for one believe I deserve death,
the ability to live and breath beseech me.

To be forgiven for my sins...

Sins are but what have been preached,
myths and legends I do not believe.
Until it is brought within my vision.

Acquiescence a virtue unbeknownst to me.
Unknown to them, and him, and her.

Driving each stake into the cliff,
strengthening our hold to keep us,
from falling into the violent seas below.

Not quite sure where I fit in,
where any of us go to hold our places in line.
Another meal slopped onto our plates,
gruel and grim looks given.

To take one step foreword into the beyond,
the unknown adrenaline in pursuit.
Breathing labored in doubt,
taking part in this endless journey.
