Little Sister

by Angela Hanska

As I sit here and read
Glancing over at you,
I wonder “how did you
Grow up so fast?”
I see such a bright future
For you, for you have
So much going for you.
You have intelligence,
Creativity, beauty, humor,
Athleticism, music talent,
And so much more. We may
Argue and fight, but when I
Tell you of a trip I’m going on
I see the fear in your eyes,
From the thought of me not
Returning. I promise you that I
Will return, and return I must.
Not for the promise I make you,
But to see your smiling face once again.

This is dedicated to my sis, Rachel.
