don’t open that door

by Angela Hanska

Hurt and cold wash
Over me as Reality strikes
He strikes with an iron fist
And cares not for what is to happen
I should have known not to
Open that door, to have kept
It shut and been safe
But Hope dared me to
And Pride would not allow
Me to back away
So I opened that door,
Which was taken
As an invitation to enter
And so that was how Reality
Hit me straight on and now
The door is stuck in an open
Position until I get Strength’s
Help in closing it

And so the cycle starts again…
