The Journal of Kathleen Wilson singing in Concert today: Caltech Glee Club
12/08/2007 06:26 p.m.
I've been distracted with learning the music and words, baking cookies for the singers green room, and today I hope to go to an Emily D. tea! Hope some of you will come to this concert if you live nearby!
(yesterday and) tonight: Saturday
December 8 at 8 p.m.
we'll be performing in the Caltech Glee Club concert.
in Dabney Lounge on the Caltech campus.
Free admission.
Noele Norris and I (both from the Caltech Poetry Club)
and friend of poets (Thursday Night workshop visitor) Jian Yuan Thum
will all be singing in the alto sections.
The music is exceptional, and even though it's a "holiday"
concert there is nothing ordinary about it. The music is challenging
and wonderfully chosen. Included are
many "Carols and Lullabies" by Conrad Susa,
accompanied by guitar, marimba and harp,
and sung in several dialects of Spanish.
Another wonder is a beautiful "Magnificat" by Niccola Porpora,
(1686-1767) accompanied by a small organ.
It will be a wonderful concert, hope
you will come! Here's more info:
