The Journal of Kathleen Wilson

poetry-dinner-art at our house tonight
12/06/2007 10:57 p.m.
This is the notice I sent our local poets. We do this every Thursday night. So I am logged onto Pathetic on and off today--but really cooking...and getting ready for this! Any of you are invited any Thursday night! Write me here, or call my cell phone 805-886-9384. Here's this week's program (tonight!)and a preview of next week!

We will begin our usual workshop
this Thursday, December 6. at 6:30 PM
with dinner and your poems, 15 copies is a good
guess, but we do have a copier here. Let's start
on time, as last week. It worked so well. I will have
dinner ready and warm for you.

At 8:30, our special entertainment will be a presentation by
"Brave Doe" (Susan Campbell)
of her whose beautiful rock sculptures.
Rick will accompany her (at her
suggestion) on a Native American
flute from his collection. Susan, who is our own Don Campbell's
sister, came to our workshop 3 weeks ago, and showed me her work.
You will see her creations have a stunning connection with my own
seaside constructions "natural readymades" that we have
pictured on our walls. Sharon's work is handbuilt from her
collected findings of stone and other natural materials.
She has done large works, and paintings also, but will
focus on the small sculptures this week. She shown her art in the
galleries including the Southwest Museum,
(a special presentation for teachers
concerning Native American Art)
Bruggermyre Library in Monterey Park, and Eyebrows
Internet Cafe. We have added two
of her pieces to our art collection already.

Last week's workshop was wonderful, and we were so pleased
that seven us were able to join Debbie afterwards
at her reading in Glendale!

Please also save Thursday Dec. 13 for our workshop! We have
a special early string instrument ensemble planning to perform for us.
Our friend Phil Schlosberg, who attended one
of our gatherings and showed up one of these early instruments
and gave a short solo presentation on one Thursday, has arranged
this and will perform with them.
A "Gamba" consort (instruments similar the later violin and cello)
has distinctive 16th to mid 18th century tone and feeling.
I will send more details about that next week.

I love these poets (Kath)abela
