Red-Headed Baby
12/07/2008 09:34 p.m.
I was always my grandma's favorite grandchild. She never even really tried to hide that fact from anyone, including the other grandkids. So naturally, when I had my first child, my son, 11 1/2 years ago, she thought he was the best baby ever. He, in fact, replaced me as the new favorite, but I was still right up there with him. LOL

As my daughters, Leah & Anna, were born, she would always say that she hoped they came out with red hair. Before she went gray, she was a flaming red-head and she never missed an opportunity to brag about how beautiful her hair was. Leah was a blonde and Anna, a brunette. My grandma loved all of my kids because they were mine and they were all very sweet. Anna was just about a year when my grandma died of cancer. At that point in time, I had no intentions of ever having another child.

Plans change. Ella was born on September 25th with a head full of red hair, five years or so after my grandma's passing. Since Ella's birth, I have often found myself wishing I could tell my grandma about her and show her this beautiful red hair. Deep down, I know she sees, but I'd have loved to have been able to see the look on her face had she lived to see Ella on the day she was born. I think there might have been a new favorite grandchild. :)
