Railroad Earth is a roots and Americana-based newgrass band from Stillwater, New Jersey. Their name was borrowed from the Jack Kerouac short story "October in the Railroad Earth," and the band also has a song by the same name.Their music combines elements of bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, celtic and more, and the group is also known for its extensive live improvisation and lyrical songwriting within an acoustic base.[source info Wikipedia]
We have become Railroad Earth Hobos and as we travel and explore, we try to plan our activities around this group's festivals and venues. It opened up a whole new world of music and poetry that we have come to enjoy and cherish.
Railroad Earth
Through this Railroad Earth
For whatever it's worth,
singin' songs and stayin' high.
And you Know I'll be
where my Heart stays free
and my thoughts are free to fly
Ohhh Mama, please don't make me Lie..............
I need my freedom, need my open Sky...............
And your socks and shirt
On your bed of dirt
With the midnight moon up high
And you know I’ve been
Where the midnight wind
Makes your soul and spirit cry
Oohhh Mama Please don’t ask me why
I need my freedom,Need my open sky
Through this Railroad Earth
For whatever it’s worth
Getting along and getting by
And you know I miss
Every single kiss
As the years go rollin’ by
Oooh Mama aint it good to be alive?
When your mountain top and feelin High
Oooooh Mama aint it good to be alive?
When you’re down and rollin’…Free to ride
Ohhh Mama......Please don't make me lie......
