What's in a name?

I don't think we associate our own names with our respective genders. Our own names are our identity, and we only associate names and gender in others. At least, I do.

List of names you can call me:
Max
Phin
Luke (long story)
Fizz (longer story)

hmm...just last night, i asked my husband if, when he heard someone say his name (on tv, or such) whether he felt a connection to himself, or whether it was just another name that they were speaking. he said just another name....and i agreed. even though the name vikki isnt ALL that common, when i hear others speak it, in random places, i dont relate it to myself. so my only association to my name, it seems, is the proximity of the speaker. ...as far as gender, thats interesting to think about....there was a boy in my highschool, a grade down from me, whose name was aubrey. and i thought it was just the most sexy wonderful name for a guy. also robert downy jr.s character in the movie 'in dreams' name was vivian, which too, i thought was just so sexy and extraordinary. it made them seem above the mundane, i guess, because of the feminine label on a masculine entity. it was very interesting.
