The Journal of Kathleen Wilson collab with Daniel Ridges
09/13/2007 07:51 a.m.
This was a collab Daniel Ridges and I did last year, he reminded me today, and asked if I still had it-- here it is:
A Girl Song
Yes,
we have
no bananas
but
bananas
love
to have
us.
(kw)
A Boy Song
I've been bananas
for a soft, ripe
peach.
Lying for hours
in sugar and milk
the taste
lingering
for days.
(dr)
Another Little Girl Song
Even before I blushed pink
longing to be picked
or dreamed
of lingering
as a dessert
with a drink,
my name was
peaches and cream.
(kw)
A Boy's Chair Retort
Prayer and plum
wine; maybe cherries
or key lime
I split her
pea and spilt
her tea
of raspberries,
wishes and
time.
(dr)
A Girl from the Choir Loft
A liquid song
with sprinkles of
ooohs and aaahs
what a banana
split I'll make
for him
after
practice
(kw)
That Boy
She's secrets and dreams,
peaches and whipped cream;
nibbling me down
to mah core.
Love can't abide
her seed's cyanide,
or the pain that will follow
henceforth
(dr)
That Girl Again
He's got his suspicions
though no inhibitions
'bout doing the thing
I adore.
He jumps on for the ride
I've got nothin' to hide
any poison you'll meet
is destroyed by the heat
and the sweetness you swallow
endures.
