Whatever!
08/16/2007 09:17 p.m.
Today was my official first full day back at work.

After I got out of the shower this morning the power flickered on and off about four times while I was trying to get ready. I should have taken the hint and gotten back in bed! The power was still out when I left the house.

I left the neighborhood and stopped at the signal and waited for it turn green. There is another signal not even 50 yards further ahead. I admit, I wasn't alert, I'd had no caffiene, and I didn't pay attention... it never dawned on me that the signals wouldn't be "insync". There was no side traffic coming when I started through the intersection (I do remember looking at that)and when I was almost through the intersection... WHAM!

I thought, damn.. someone ran the light and caught my tail end. I was hit so hard that I fish-tailed before finally coming to the halt with my front end partially blocking the lane and the rest of the vehicle off the road.

The front bumper of the Tahoe that hit me was on the hood of a Northbound car!

I was given a citation for running a red light (I do acknowledge, the light may have been red, I really don't know) but the Tahoe that hit me was FLYING, she never breaked, never hit her horn, never slowed down until her engine cut out. There is EXTENSIVE damage to her vehicle. It had to betowed to clear the scene. I have very minor damage to the backend of my YukonXL. The Rt. Tail light is gone, there is a dent (not a severe crumple) and my back chrome bumper may be slightly dented from the side. Her whole front end is severely damaged, but expecially from the mid point to the right side.

After giving a recorded statement to the insurance company, they will investigate any liability on her part (even though I received a citation), based on the location and amount of damage to my vehicle, and the amount of damage to hers, and the lack of skid marks, braking, etc.

All I can say is thank the lord I got insurance on my vehicle when I did. My previous policy had lapsed, and I just got this one on August 6th! 10 days... 10 days and I have an accident. I haven't been involved in a auto-vehicle collision in more than 10 years!

Next time we lose power while I'm getting ready for work... I'm calling in late, and going back to bed for a while!
I am currently Brooding
