Wow. I'm still kind of in numb shock. If I'd have been 3 seconds later... that tire could have killed me. I thought I'd seen so much with all my driving... this is yet another unbelievable close call. It was one of those slow motion surreal happenings. I mean who would ever expect to see a large, brand new looking tire come flying through the air at your car? Then about the time it really dawned on me, hey that's a tire... it's coming straight for me! I was past the danger zone. Glad I wasn't going the speed limit. It would have got me. I still can't believe it. Then I see the bronze suburban with no tire on the driver's side in the back, in the north bound lane churning the dirt up in the median and trying desperately to come to a halt. Then I glanced back behind me in the mirror to see that same tire, rim and all but looking chewed up flying across the median back toward the northbound lane again and two cars behind me churning up dust trying to stop and pull off. I don't know if it just hit one of them or both. I missed it watching the suburban. unbelievable. It sure looked like a brand new tire and I got a VERY close view of it before I even realized the significance of a tire flying at me about 10-12 feet in the air. Some tire company is probably in a heap of trouble. I could tell it was tearing the suburban undercarriage up and right in front of where the tire should have been. Man. That caused some damage. Such a close call. I've had so many of those. Thank you Jesus. If that thing had come through the window at the rate of speed it was traveling.... well... I know I wouldn't be here right now. I am currently Dumbfounded
