yeah there!
For some bizarre reason I felt compelled to volunteer to take kids from our church to youth camp today. So I packed up my four kids (9 - 15) and picked up two more (girls) from the church. The youth director gave me directions from MapQuest.... NEVER, EVER trust MapQuest, especially if you know you will be going from a Metroplex to Hicksville!
It took me 5 hours to get to my destination. Saw some lovely scenery going up US 59 (I-69) once we got past Livingston (we were going to a town west of Tyer, Texas).
But somehow I missed the turn-off I was supposed to catch (it was a street, not a state highway, spur, FM road or anything like that) and ended up going past where I needed to turn off for Tyler... then I got onto the state highway I needed too soon and ended up going dead through the center of town, instead of around it... then another miss communication, and before I ended up on the right track again.
I left 4 of the kiddos at camp (2 boys, 2 girls) in the capable hands of intern counselors, and started the trek back home.
Coming home was SO much easier... Just three road changes, and all of them within towns (one of them with a population of less than 500)that I could use for landmarks... and I was back home in 3 1/2 hours, including makin a fueling stop!
I am definitely writing down my homeward journey in reverse for the person who goes to pick the kids up.
I'm definitely not trusting MapQuest for my personal journeys. I am currently Tired
