A Prayer For My Dad
10/06/2006 06:22 a.m.
I really want my dad to die of cancer.

Or old age.

And I insist this terminal diagnosis isn't broken to me for another 15-20 yrs or so.

Please, any fate besides what hangs over him right now!

My dad was in a really bad motorcycle accident last Saturday. Smashed some ribs, punctured and collapsed both lungs, spleen bled out, lost a lot of blood.
He's a retired cop, 37yrs of service. And he never could give up two of his loves, namely police work and Harleys. He's been part-timing as a police motorcycle escort for funeral processions. I've told him how dangerous this is, but he really enjoyed it. As he was going 65mph to post at an intersection, an elderly woman pulled out and he T boned her car.

I'm just a mess over this, yet I know I need to show strength for my mom. He may, after all, pull through. I don't care if you make me wait hours, days, or weeks in these sterile hospital hallways, Dad. You've lead an honorable, rich life, but you can't leave us yet. We need you, I love you. You've been the best dad a boy could ask for. I can't think of a soul more deserving a miracle than yours.
Please come home! - SJB

I don't know you, but I will be thinking of you and your Dad and praying for both of you. Have faith, I am sure your father feels your thoughts.

Soulo I'm so sorry to hear about what's happened to your Dad. My prayers will be added to the others and if you need to talk by phone, im me and I'll call you. May God watch over you, your Mom and hold your Dad in the care and protection of His Wings.
