a bird adjusting her feathers
looks unslightly
for a moment
as she rumples herself
and turns around
beak in her side
legs grasping the branch
on which she stands

she cocks her head
inquisitively
and analyzes her
possiblities of
flight plan
and then she is off
into the sky
with a burst of feathers
behind her
