The Journal of Shonda Chrissonberry little bits of colored memories
09/30/2005 03:20 a.m.
My favorite candy as a child was Sixlets. Those little colored morsels of yum ~ really no bigger than pellet. My brother would get a Chunky and I would get the Sixlets. Everytime ~ the same. Momma would always let us eat our candy in the car on the way home, but I had to wait.
Not because I was a bad child or anything like that ~ I was an angel ~ (see previous entry) but.......
Because I just couldn't eat them from that awesome tubular package they were in ~ no ~ I had a system for eating my Sixlets. Now that I think about it, it just might have been early OCD coming out. I had to have them dumped into a bowl so I could methodically eat them by their color. No certain order of color, I would just grab one and then eat all of that color ~ save one piece. Those green, red, yellow, orange, and brown yummies. My mouth is watering as I type this. Then at the end ~ with my five tiny pieces of candy, each a different color in hand ~ I would gobble them up in one big swoof.
I bought me some Sixlets today ~ and found myself instantly reverting to my childhood Sixlet obsession. It was like ingrained or something. I had not thought about that for years. But there it was.
And it felt sooooo good. Tasted pretty good too.
Aaahhh, I miss my childhood. I am currently Nostalgic
I am listening to the fall night (my windows are open ~ YEA).
