to show the duality of the world, god ceated man and woman. both independant but also interdependant. we cannot claim to have total independance because we rely on our partners to sustain our lives. this is especially in the holy union of marriage. both partners work together to sustain each other. once this union is broken and the nurturing of either is not being cultivated then the union of marriage is broken and the holiness of matrimony is nullified. the thing which holds these two opposite beings together is the mystery of love which grants them the power to grow interwound like vines huggin a tree.
