The Journal of Delilah Coyne My Day: Bad at First, Then Better
04/20/2005 04:37 a.m.
I had an early start today. I was running on time to drop my kids off at school and was off to class with time to spare. About midway through my 30 minute drive to campus, I noticed that my van was driving really horribly. In turns, it would pull real bad and shimmy whenI'd speed up. It made me a little nervous, but since I'll be trading the van in as soon as I get my student loans, I didn't dwell on it too much. I got to school, parked the van and went to class.
Well, an hour and fifteen minutes later I return to the van and see it's huge flatter than flat left rear tire. So I call my little brother, who also attends the same college and ask him if he could come rescue me... and of course, he does. After trying to figure out my puzzle of a car jack, he finally got the tire changed and I treated him to lunch, after driving him to his apartment for non-dusty clothes. The drive home was 45 mph all the way, which made it longer than the usual 30 minutes. I was so glad to plop dpwn on the couch and feel sorry for myself. No one has been more ready for a new vehicle than I am today!!
This evening, my son, who will be 8 in May, had his first scrimmage baseball game. It was, needless to say, the highlight of my day, even though I skipped my evening Government class to be there. He got a few hits and played in field, a step up from last year's left field position!
