Fire Drills
09/21/2002 05:23 p.m.

One thing I hate most about waking up in the morning is dealing with a fire drill. My own fault of staying up last night until 4 in the morning but, getting some extra sleep today was one of the things I was going to do anyway, just because it's Saturday. 12:30 comes around and a piercing shreak comes into my head, waking me up instantly and basically throwing me on the floor from the eardrum tearing noise. I open the door to my room and 50 times louder than I heard it before, blows me away. I mean, sure, it's a great piece of work to actually wake you up from a sound sleep and definitely make it known that there is a fire there.

So I head out and find that my friend is sitting outside soaked, next to another kid eating pancakes and another girl falling asleep on the curb. Figures, I'm not the only one completely pissed off by the whole deal, nevermind the only one that just woke up!

I found out that the cause of it was a simple burn on the stove. Usually when someone cooks bacon, the grease will set off the alarm and the whole building has to hear about it. Joy isn't it? Luckily, this has only happened twice so far this semester and we have been in for almost a month. Not to bad so far.

So we finally get back into the building and I get to get my stuff to hop in the shower. Well, they managed to be very nice and shut the excrusiating(spelling?) racket off but the great strobe light still flickers with a *click, click, click* everytime it flashes. Tell me this doesn't get annoying in the first 1 minut of hearing it. Yeah, it's been doing that for the last 45 min?

So I hop in the shower, get all cleaned up and because of my trusty alarm for this morning, I'm up, awake and sort of ready to start my day. Exciting isn't it? Love fire alarms....if I knew they were false....I would ask that my pillow and blanket remain on my bed, supported my head and body throughout. Life at it's greatest!
