Notes-
Staying one more night in DC. We love staying at the quaint with no elevator Windsor Inn. It is not for everyone, but we love it.
We are having a fantastic time here and have met some awesome folks from all over the country and the world.
The next RRE venue is March 27 at the Music Farm in Charleston...it will be a pleasure/business trip. We will do some "picking" for the flea market and antique shows. We love this life we now have together.....far from stagnant....
And then...we are hoping to attend Delfest Academy prior to Delfest in Cumberland, Maryland...I want Wade and I to get more formal instruction on playing the banjo and mandolin....eventually want to get Wade playing for the public....we are so energized....young people gravitate to us and when exposed to Wade's own stuff-they like it....and it is so much fun to play and enjoy music on all levels...and my Irish comes out in me

Pull in from the desert road
Park your wagon, drop your load, and shut 'er down
Poor boy you're bound to die
Been a long hot desert ride
Wasatch, Bear River, Devils Slide and Elko
Poor boy you're bound to cry
Poor boys and gamblers, road dogs and ramblers
shutting it down for the night
Winners and losers, hookers and boozers
drawn like a bug to the light
Grab a whiskey at the bar
sit down to your deck of cards
and throw your chips in
Poor boy you're bound to cry
Emerald, Misty, Violet Blue
got a winking eye on you, and all night to wait
Poor boy you're bound to die
Poor boys and gamblers, road dogs and ramblers
shutting it down for the night
Winners and losers, hookers and cruisers
crawling to the Elko tonight
All alone, all alone
been so long on this dusty road
oh mama, I need a place to land
Need a card, I need a card
hit me lord, not too hard
oh mama, I need a winning hand
Morning coffee, steak and eggs
stretch your legs, get down the road and rollin'
Poor boy you're bound to cry
She's a camptown on the ol' U P line
Always shows up right on time at Elko
Poor boy you're bound to die
Poor boys and gamblers, road dogs and ramblers
shutting it down for the night
Winners and losers, hookers and boozers
drawn like a bug to the light
Poor boys and gamblers, road dogs and ramblers
shutting it down for the night
Winners and losers, hookers and cruisers
crawling to the Elko night
All alone, all alone
been so long on this dusty road
oh mama, I need a leg to stand on
I need a card, I need a card
hit me lord, not too hard
oh mama, I need a winning hand
All alone, all alone
been so long on this dusty road
oh mama, I need a place to land
Need a card, I need a card
hit me lord, not too hard
oh mama, I need a winning hand
This is one of our many favorites......we always have a deck of cards to throw in the air

He was a football star[cover story?] 02/19/2015 12:51 p.m.
Gee, things are not always what they seem at first....They caught my son's friend's murderer. Even though Mike was secretly dealing heroin, this murder was over a girl.My son revealed inside information and it is pretty pathetic. Mike was a good kid who did not have the opportunities needed to prevent his choice of earning his living this way.The kid that shot him is nuts and was doing it for his friend[who was in dispute with Mike over a girl].Mike was so well loved in his community, they raised the money for his funeral in a few days via Go-Fund-Me. RIP young man.

I am glad they caught him.Even so, I don't believe this story....it is a coverup for the real truth.

STOP THE VIOLENCE BREAK THE SILENCE[update] 02/03/2015 09:59 p.m.
STOP THE VIOLENCE, BREAK THE SILENCE!
I am reeling with emotions and I can’t stop the tears rolling. Another tragedy has occurred last night in our former home town and it hit too close to home. Another of my youngest son’s friends has been murdered and his other friend’s condition is unknown. Rocky Mount’s murder rate is soaring and the sad thing is, I happen to know many of the individuals/families involved directly or indirectly in most of these murders. I know them primarily because they are my son’s friends or they were my former students/families. It was bad when I left Rocky Mount in June of 2012. Now it is beyond bad. I spoke briefly with Robbie and found out very little ….rumors and speculation amidst the shock abound…..but this much I know, Mike Tavira and Joe and my son were good friends and Robbie watched the superbowl over at Mike’s the day before he was murdered. Robbie said Mike was shot in the back and they knew their assailants and let them in while Mike’s older brother was away at class at Nash Community College who then comes home to find a crime scene where Mike was unresponsive and Joe is being rushed to the hospital. Maybe robbery was a motive but no cash was taken which puts a strange twist….but it could be that things went wrong that wasn’t intended and they fled before they could get the money for fear of being caught……but I am sure there is a lot not being said. It is so senseless and sad and affects so many.
[I know/knew all these kids in this newscast- I was their art teacher]
I worry for my grandchildren.
*UPDATE
It is difficult when one knows these young souls as children before they grew into corrupted lives.Mike kept the truth from Robbie. He didn't know[despite obvious signs].Neither did Joe[the 17yr old who got shot],but Mike was using and dealing heroin and had been denying it to all his old pals from childhood....the influences of welfare, poverty and gangs/drugs has seriously impacted this community.....and this just as easily could have happened the day before when my son was there......wake up call... I am currently Sad
gift of life .....I can only say that the twins coming into our lives has influenced all of us in profound ways....for the better.....more pics to add later....
