The Journal of Steve Baba poetry reading

I just had a great time on Thursday night to my first ever poetry reading. About 20 people were there and the main poet was really great. At the open mic I read one of my poems and felt exhilarated when I heard the crowd clap for me after I read my poem. I will be doing this again. Too bad the this poetry reading series is only once a month. Next month, in November, I will be attending 3 poetry readings and then have my own 10 minute slot for my poetry reading. I am looking forward to this. Wish me luck on having a good poetry reading!

I miss home

I haven't been home to London for a while now. I really miss it and the people I know there. Unfortunately I won't be able to go back until 2012. Hopefully before the Olympics. Next year I want to go to Paris for a month, but if I did that I would go back to London. And I can't afford both, since I would want to stay in London for at least 3 months.
So instead I will stay here on the west coast. Life isn't bad here at all. I could do with less hot weather though.
Writing is going well. I'm taking a break right now. But i'll be writing again soon enough....

I got poem of the day for 9/03/10! I was and am still excited about this! I hope people will read the poem and enjoy it. Things here are going well. Writing a lot of poetry and enjoying my time off. Hope all is well with everyone else.

Summer time

I just wanted to say Happy Summer for those who are in school and are now celebrating the summer off. I am one of those students and I actually will have six months off from school. My summer/six month vacation started in early June and I have been loving it so far. I will be writing a lot this summer and during the six months off. Got a ton of poems written and will start submitting them for publication in the fall. Got to rewrite and revise and scrap the poems I've written and that will take a while.
I am going to New York City in the fall for 2-3 weeks just to see the city and write. It will be an unofficial writer's retreat for me and I am really looking forward to it. I will also be going back home to London next year for a couple of months, and I am really looking forward to that as well. I'll be buying a ton of poetry books as well as sign up on various poetry organization memberships as well as subscribing to some poetry magazines as well. This fall will be awesome and I'm going to have a lot of fun as well as some writing epiphanies. My poetry writing is going well and I have over 2000 poems written. I'm guessing that I'll only be keeping 15% of those poems as I usually dump a lot and revise and rewrite the others. I will post some new poems on here soon, maybe in the next month or so.
Ok, so I've written a lot for myself. I hardly write here so here you go. Hope all is well for all of my fellow poets on this site, and happy writing!

Thanksgiving

It's been almost a year since my first and last entry. I usually write on my livejournal account, that's why I haven't posted here in more frequency. I need to add a few more poems to my library. I've written on and off for the last year or so and have over 200 poems that are either in the process of finishing or are finished. I wrote prolifically when I was in Hawaii for 2 weeks. I think I cranked out 60 or so poems. I may need to go somewhere else to make my poetic license useful again. Maybe live in London for a couple of months or move to Paris for the summer, with the exception of still going to Hawaii for my yearly pilgrimage to my 2nd home on the planet.
It's Thankgiving Eve and I feel ok. I've been listening to some music on the headphones and have also written in my livejournal. I also wrote a poem. Still working out the kinks on that one. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone and I hope that everyone has a wonderful and enjoyable Thanksgiving. I sure have many things to be thankful for. Some things I am still searching for, but I hope they will come to me or I will come to it or them in the future.
Ok, bye now. Don't know when I'll be writing here again, so I hope you all have a good rest of the year...

The beginning

Well, I have so much to say, but don't know how to say it. I'll just go with the flow here. I'm glad to be a member of pathetic.org. I feel like I've found a home here, even though I'm fairly new here. I know the poems that I've submitted aren't my best, but I am not sure if my best has already been written, or the best is yet to come. Time will tell on that. I like all of the other functions of this site. Especially voting on other's poetry. Well, that's all for now...
