The Journal of Kathleen Wilson

collab with Daniel Ridges
09/13/2007 07:51 a.m.
This was a collab Daniel Ridges and I did last year, he reminded me today, and asked if I still had it-- here it is:

A Girl Song

Yes,
we have
no bananas

but
bananas
love
to have
us.

(kw)

A Boy Song

I've been bananas
for a soft, ripe
peach.

Lying for hours
in sugar and milk
the taste

lingering
for days.

(dr)

Another Little Girl Song

Even before I blushed pink
longing to be picked
or dreamed

of lingering
as a dessert
with a drink,
my name was

peaches and cream.

(kw)

A Boy's Chair Retort

Prayer and plum
wine; maybe cherries
or key lime

I split her
pea and spilt
her tea

of raspberries,
wishes and
time.

(dr)

A Girl from the Choir Loft

A liquid song
with sprinkles of
ooohs and aaahs

what a banana
split I'll make
for him
after
practice

(kw)

That Boy

She's secrets and dreams,
peaches and whipped cream;
nibbling me down
to mah core.

Love can't abide
her seed's cyanide,
or the pain that will follow
henceforth
(dr)

That Girl Again

He's got his suspicions
though no inhibitions
'bout doing the thing
I adore.

He jumps on for the ride
I've got nothin' to hide
any poison you'll meet
is destroyed by the heat
and the sweetness you swallow
endures.

we're off for a few hours to the botanical gardens and museum-library--The Huntington Gardens--and we'll have tea in the Rose Garden Tea House--it's a coincidence it is happening on my birthday-- that's what I love best...
more when we come home!

what's where?...
08/26/2007 03:17 p.m.

to see.... WHAT

would happen if you joined my underwater fantasies of where to go while being where we are?
--the ilustration above is from a mural in the Administration building at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan...more stories and poems to come from here... the Camuy caverns yesterday were incredible, it felt as if I was walking into the ancient mouth of poetry...and you were all there... (really--that will be a poem... soon)... today we are off to the old city...and so composition must wait as the words sing in my head... meanwhile..the fantasy of WHAT

floating on surface...going down....

below and above ground
08/25/2007 01:30 p.m.
in a few moments today we'll leave for the caves and the observatory here in Puerto Rico, many more stories to tell, but I will be off-line and in caverns and the skies in where surely poems will be glimmering... see you there... soon....

pictures from Japan
06/13/2007 07:14 a.m.
We're in Kyoto--our last full day in Japan. I'll post photos here, eventually but see our home page
http://www.oldflutes.com/Kathy&Rick
for interesting glimpses into our travels. (I have not had much time or intenet access, but it has been a poetic time. I was invited to read "A Course in Combinatorics" (in my library) at the conference party. A thrill for this poet to read to the mathematicians! They loved it. Also I wrote haiku at the burial site of Busan and Basho's hut, a tranquil, inspiring place, more later, I miss my usual conversations here. Please look at the photos when you can!
