going cycling in pei this summer

by Dawn Davidson

i am taking myself to the ocean, small tent
night fire good to spend time alone celebrate what is

in this people driven world where the crowd is the word
i need my trees and the ocean's roar to know myself alone

to know that really i am all i have an adult to my child's mind
a pair of feet digging into the sand alone at last i sing

we have been hoodwinked into believing that only the group exists
opinions like millions of grain of sand block the fresh and new horizons

that the individual finds alone a call from within the love of self
a bright and glowing star evening fire crackling what it says is real

new stars being born new meanings express the awe the glory of it all
take me there self give me that solitude of bliss i am going going within

Absence leads to new strength I would say. One of your strongest pieces in this genre of spiritual expression. With all the great imagery, easy to live vicariously through you. Kudos!

Beautifully expressed, Dawn. Yes, there is only the individual, the masses don't really exist unless we the individuals bring the idea of the masses into play. There is no other way for the masses to exist, lest groups of individuals forfeit such a status as makes them utterly unique. The masses on the other hand hardly qualify for distinction.

Dawn, as I read this - unconsciously - I sighed and breathed in a deep breath of fresh air. The description of this precious time on the beach near the ocean, transported me. It made me remember those glorious moments and wonderful experiences of the surf, the sand, the wind, the massive source of life on the planet - and my times on the Gulf Coast, the Pacific Coast and the Atlantic Coast - each with its own character. What a gift to have been able to have visited all these places and to have spent lots of time, especially on or near the Gulf in Galveston and surrounding areas. It is such a pleasure experiencing you sinking into your spirit, your selfhood away from the roaring crowd. Oh how I relate! "Social media" has its place, but it is not a place close to my heart - it seems a place where people display a certain preferred image. Not that that is all bad, but it seems so superficial. This space right here is so much more soul-full to me. You are one of those who makes it so. Thank you, Dawn. Blessings and peace dear lady.
