Dear 31st December 2016

by Maria Massarella

I shall embrace you
Embrace me
Last day of 2016
Guide me into the New
As you would a daughter

Thank you for the scattered seeds
That they may blossom on
The breath of the New

Thank you for the joyous moments we shared
They are the light in my walk
And of the troubled ones
Some of those I shall leave behind
In trails of gratitude for nurturing my growth
Just
I shall take with me the
Love
Especially of dear ones whose earthly journey
Ended in your space

Today

Be kind
When you accompany me to 2017's
Threshold
You know me
Sometimes I can be fragile

Emotions overflow

I know tears seem the same be they of joy or
grief
Equivalent their salinity
Yet how they do differ in taste to my heart's palate
However
I shall keep both in my pocket
Carry them with me
Should my eyes thirst for either
Afterall tears are a gift
Protect from aridity

Ours is not a goodbye
I shall ever
Visit you in memory

Blows a kiss

in lovelight&peace

The sweetness in this is laudable, for such a dog of a year as 2016 has been for some of us. I too hope you find every reason to write, and to post here....thank you! LK

Beautiful, openhearted message, heralding passage of another year, Maria. All the best for 2017!

"Thank you for the scattered seeds That they may blossom on The breath of the New" - my favorite lines but it is all appealing with a serenity in spite of burdens. May your memories of your mother be many.
