Virtual Nudge

by Maria Massarella

It was mid-afternoon in my corner of the globe when
Your social network post appeared on my screen. No
I had not scrolled down the page. It was simply there
Atop it all like an answer to a latent query

Your words found me vulnerable, still wearing the
Remnants of a hospitalized glance, if I may refer to it as such,
After a morning of volunteering in our local hospital. Your
Adventure seemed to transcend distance and I could envision

You, patient surrounded by your loving family, imagine the
Various signposts of your path constellated with The 'via-vai'
Of dear friends...Your written “thank you” to them creates that
Quiet intimate scenario I would never dream of invading.

Hushed, I left without leaving footprints in your snow. However

I am brushed by memories and have this sense of endless
Gratitude for all received when my journey was the arduous one
Remember well how the touch of friends near or afar was part of the
Fertilizer in my healing process … The time spent online nowadays

Has become rare, I would say “intermittent” and my words or
Thoughts don’t always formulate a poem, but tonight being here
Still feels privilege enough to breeze in just the space of a
Whisper to deliver a prayer and the seeds of a smile.

For a first draft I'd say you have done quite well lady. It always amazes me how we can reflect on memories of sort that are a mix of reality and maybe some wishful thinking. Again nicely done.

draft or not, I agree with George, Maria. This is quite beautiful, tender, eloquent. I like the ring of 'via-vai' . Must look it up. Hope everything's going well for you and family in Italy.

A very lovely expression of gratitude.

We wait, wanton and damaged.. in hope of a budding smile!

Very gritty for a nudge...

This is wonderful, Maria. You set the stage, or even better, you craft the desk of your author's desk for us to see as we view what you are viewing with you. I don't know who you are referring to, but I surely would adore to know I'm lifted before the Almighty by such a one who crafts poetry like this... had I a printer and bulletin board, once again, this would go on a it. Much love to you~
