purpose is
purposeless.
intentions are skydivers
with no aim, just falling
haphazardly.
i want to feel new.
i want to feel without you.

sense is
senseless.
shame comes and goes,
cannot hold its own.
legs are built for walking,
or sitting down, or standing
or nothing at all.
i want to walk away.
i want to walk away from you.
and mean it. just. this. once.

commitment
is useless.
save it for hospitals, asylums,
book clubs, or cds.
save it for sobriety, don't waste it
on me.

purpose is
purposeless
though i do it on purpose
it doesn't make sense to me how
i. can. still. love. you.
in spite of everything.
though i never intended to.

i admit it.
i need to be
committed.
