your fingers

by John Herzog

I remember the time
I intertwined your fingers with my own
and let the world slip away
and since then
the spaces between them
have been as empty as the nights
where I lie restless
fast forwarding in my mind
to the end of this movie
where I take you into my hands
your heart beating against mine
and the credits never roll

I'd say that this isn't bad for someone who says they haven't written for a while. And where did you move?

A wonderfully-constructed, well-written memory.
