On Sunday Afternoons

by Joe Cramer

and I wonder
on Sunday afternoons
what you are doing
if you are going anywhere
or would you care
to see me
again,
and again,
and once again.
I dreamed I saw you
but you couldn't see me,
you wouldn't,
you shouldn't.
So now
all I have are these
daydreams
on Sunday afternoons
always hoping
that Monday
doesn't come too soon.

Joe, This poem's title struck a minor chord with me........Sundays have always descended upon me with a sheer heaviness; I attribute this to my Southern upbringing I suppose, always laden with a sort of religious melancholy...your poem attests to the beauty and leisure of the Sunday, and the platform it provides for reflection and embracing one's past, even lost love. Beautiful sentiment as always.
