The good old days

by Keith D Allison

Wish they were here again
oh yes… I do
beef has a nice ring
doesn't it

A beef eater I was once
now days
a few small pieces of chicken
we'll have to do

Oh for the good old days
when the green went along ways
Sweet trips to the locker plant
220 pounds of USDA

Choices
I do mean choice
A half of beef
42 packages

Hamburger
Roast
T-bone
you know the story

And when it came time to pay the bill
you didn't have to cut off your arm to pass the till
92.40 for beef and packaging
the dollar 85 in tax
total $94.25

The good old days
the girls were prettier
the beef was sweet
now days life is wrapped in the daydreams
oh for the good old days

Ha, love this. Love this look back into time that shows us with one small thing how much things really have changed.
