Post

by Anita Mac

I am tense and anxious, waiting out
awkward    silence     after   awkward    silence.

I am in another dimension
sighing with relief at your presence.

I am here, hunched over next to you;
my subconscious’s lame attempt to cover
physical evidence of out-dated conditioning.

I view the men I’ve been through
with an affectionate nostalgia,
and those I’ve been through twice
with a reluctant revulsion.

Gorgeous verse. I think that ending is fantastic.
