The Sum Of All Words by Dan KastenI never question God when he places me in a fog
only to reveal such solitary beauty that it has no choice
but to cleanse in the most noble of hue
a reminiscence in future tense anchored by a cup of coffee
and strong discourse more powerful than the forces plied to carbon
to me you are bright leaves on a crisp Autumn morning
moist and gentle, shining in the afterglow of a passing shower
you push me past some negotiated space and commonness forgotten
a pioneer in a trajectory charted in the street wisdom of dancing candles
you bring good offices and great laughter
as a soul of souls living amongst items that cannot be replaced
fitting me like a shadow
yet in the public eye with others watching, they
completing our sentences,
memories started with glasses raised and an open book
of pen and brush diction undecipherable to those who have no core
as I glance at you glancing back at me
sketching my form in your mind three dimensional
I know that you are for all poets
the sum of all words. 02/14/2011 Author's Note: For my love...
