Remember

by Adrian Foster

a cold day in February
we made contact
through a keyboard
and careful research
of each other's profiles

messages to and fro
news both good and bad
but we were there
for one another
because we cared

had to wait some time
to actually see you
in person
took my breath away
you did
and to this day
you still do

spent so much
time together
i'd sacrifice
almost anything
just to see
your smile
to stand
by your side

minds of a feather
always laughing
and enjoying ourselves
in each other's company
bottles in hand

you've been gone
for some time now
i still catch sight
of your beauty
here and there
in passing

even caught you
on the news
one day
don't think you knew
the camera saw you
as you walked by
fingers in hair
but maybe you did know
still you looked
beautiful

i just want to say
i miss you so much
i have never once
gone through a day
without thinking
of you
a work of art
in my mind

those gorgeous brown eyes
a smile that could
make flowers bloom
a sense of humor
like no other
i've known

i wish you were
here
i wish i could
hold you
i want to tell
you
how much
i still love
you
how much
i still care

but i know
you know this
in your heart
because you know
you were always
number one
in my life

i always reassured
you
of that

Author's Note: To ~Anna~ ~from time to time, a tear falls in your absence. but nothing about the way i feel about you has changed.~ UPDATE: This work is about a woman who is no longer in my life and should've been out much longer before I wrote it. I was taken for a fool. However, I will let it stand for those who admire it. It's water under the bridge and the words have no meaning to me. But, they are a reminder of how stupid, and vunerable, I was at that time. I just hope I've learned my lesson.
