i miss you.. sometimes

by Daryl Fein

Standing alone,
in a ramndom coffee house.

we passed eachother in line,
I pretended not to see you as we brushed shoulders.

I slid by you with a wince,
you quickly clasped my wrist.

my eyes drew upward slowly,
locking firm with yours.

yellow green discs pierced me again,
many a circle I have walked in your honor.

I made an uncomfortable sigh,
you smiled and said you missed me.

Tried not to cry,
I didnt care why,
just that I felt the same.

we talked the afternoon away,
you said things that made my face warm.

I never could manage to hide as well as you,
I walked you to your car.

we held hands as I reveled in your boundless smile,

Then.

I wake, its 5 am,
realized I was dreaming of you.

and you broke my heart again.
for the first time, today.

That is always the catch, isn't it? Having been in that place, it's uncomfortable in the way that Roy Orbison sings it in "Crying" -the wound that is subject to reopening at any time.
