I lost you

by Daryl Fein

The fraudulent kindness gave way to silence-
she came along and mimiced certain care-
laying here in motion, emotive backfiring echoes in this space-
the darkness has found me-
covered half my face-

This is the monster that claims me-
for love or country, to be decimated-
please blame me-

It's 4:35, and our cold little town weeps-
I still cant shake you of me-
and I will never get what I want-
she will never understand, what it means to know me-
my secrets, my dreams-
to be at the the heart of the matter-
I cant be at peace-

Things I knew I wanted-
to hold her hand and never let go-
sing it aloud, and hope she felt so-
a rush to the brain-
flushing of the face-
tingle in the spine, time with me to waste-

I can still taste the sweet on her lips-
I slowly closed my eyes-
couldn't help dream of this-

But now there is shallow, deft, blackness-
not even a friend-
with whom I can confide, to love, help me mend-

The silence gives way to sadness-
I said I get lonely sometimes-
you didn't seem to notice-
silence shouts your reply-

I said that I missed you-
you said I dont fit-
In your life.
