This Is (I, You) by Alison McKenzieI
Arrive,
Enter the fledging structure
That is us.
You
Usher me to comfort,
Bring me tea,
Rub my shoulders.
Tension dissolves.
I feel the solidity of resolve
Breaking pleasantly down
Into more manageable bits
Of laughter and relief.
I
Breathe in and out of
This altered dimension,
Absorbing each nuance,
Keeping a watch for red.
You
Gather me into arms
Bent to protect,
Speak to me in various
Shades of adoration,
Paint me precious.
Planted seeds of love
Sprout wonder,
Drink up the rain
Of spent tears
And wounded heart,
Singing spring
In a winter Sun.
I
Lean on revelation,
Trust the divination
Being spoken into darkness,
Assurances banked.
You
Lean into the new dawn,
Embracing the Light
Of every new glory,
Adjusting to the heat.
This is a new beginning,
That could be a gateway to the next,
Or just a moment,
Or the rest of our lives.
I
Suspend the conclusion,
Hold a space for together,
Hold a space for alone,
Hold my breath for now;
Previous experience reminding
I'm always left with
I... 10/29/2009 Posted on 10/29/2009 Copyright © 2025 Alison McKenzie
