AFFECTATIOUS, is that a word?

by James Edwards

waiting fingers snap and type
whats wrong whats right
the coolness of the touch is always alienating
is this another test?

while am at it
my eyes screen one frame to another
random images of random visages
its all to much to hold
too much to say
too much to not say
too much too cold

ideas that flow
overflow
into an unwanted unrequired space
into oblivion
of the passion which is dead
and gone
never to be revived
of what glittered
of what was gold

am forced in it
while nurturing anothers heart
now broken into un-uniformity
jagged edges reflect lights in the inner walls
inner
shades that impale
into hopefulness

i see i relate
fecundity, salubrious, verdance
three words to three trace
three post script and one I create
i chew, i churn, i regurgitate
of what was mine is now
yours to claim

they do it all the time
fall and rise and then fall again
again and again
this is what interests them this is
what they want
they cry and rant
rave and crave
of whats unrequited
of whats unresolved
whats not to be
what was never meant to be at all

but i, i...
i plug them right back in
and do my club thing
as the beast within me takes me
keeps me at the mercy
of the decadence of the corporate king

and as I take to the steppy steps
its me and that again
one in unison
one in fall

and am sure
as I am not a part of this all

there is a wonderful tempo and rhythm flowing through this piece.
