Hum and Floss by Angela CottermanI floss my teeth while I masturbate;
that's an advantage of a vibrator--
I would be embarrassed to tell this
to almost anyone,
but I feel flippant today. Besides,
I didn't come anyway.
My mind worried the floss as
the hum, hum, hum, hum...oh mmhum’s
request to land went ignored.
The mint, however,
flagged my hygienist forward. I forgot
her name. But she plays Skip-O!
with her family.
She’s sardonic. Think sexy, sexy
sexy…hum, hum, hum…Oh, not enough!
Although my hips do move in response
to the electric rail,
they flail without a map.
Typical, my thoughts have moved
to the sparrows' nest in our bathroom's
vent pipe. What must it be like...hum, hum,
hum mmmuh...to call
down wind shelter?
One of those birds must be frustrated
that the other remains calm.

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 06/03/09 at 11:07 PM I know I like those opening lines. You certainly know how to grab attention. The only trouble with that after getting someone's attention is obviously to hold onto it, and I think you do that really well here as well. Great use of voice and tone, really, is what makes this work so well. |
