I wonder why I still am

by Colleen Sperry

lost in sun starved thoughts
behind the shattered door
of the blackened closet
a whisper of tiny hands
cover my eyes and hold my tears
while I mutter another prayer
for the baby girl
buried here long ago
I know her hands
they are my
memories concealed in bags
like old remnants
I meant to purge

The imagery is vivid and dark. This a actually kinda scary. It reminds me of when I was a very young boy, hiding in the closet behind the garment bags of my mother's dresses and old clothes. JJ

There are no words to properly express the emotions I feel in this piece. It sincerely moved me.
