Renaissance Man

by Nicole D Gregory

I don’t know what
to write
All this open space
is so overwhelming
and so tempting

Do I quit talking
in riddles
and just blatantly
start writing
a tell-all

I’m very perceptive
you know
A smart little cookie
with big innocent eyes
that you thought were
years younger
Letting you think
you were the Renaissance Man
~ see ~
I even know how to spell
both like a bee
and a witch
~ now ~
put those two words

Intriguing isn’t it
Very unsettling too

Your hands are a
work mans hands
Your freckles
and you are shrewd
~ I'll give you that ~
but your breathing
gives away your uncertainty

Run your company
in to the ground in your
casual wear

That’s okay
You’ll know where to find me
when you’ve worn out
your life’s calling
I’ll make sure of that

Seductive glances looking
down on you from
the billboard
Selling water, watches
or the latest

A reminder
Your reminder

You didn’t want me
but the rest of the world
