Chances Were!

by Johnny Crimson

Ready the deep
for here I come.
Lay me down slowly,
let the moths give me welcome.
Allow the ways of old to sink
into the ground as my body
is packaged for delivery.
Let me get at least 3 to 4 days
before she visits me.
Allow the skin to bloat and the worms
to feast.
I'd like to be busy when she comes and
even in death I can't talk to you straight,
but I've always wanted to see you from this angle,
like most of my friends have.

Wow! From my perspective... very powerful! Sort of took my breath away; so I'm a bit speechless. This felt very cathartic. I really like this! ~N

This reminds of a Canadian film called "Kissed" I believe... It's fairly disturbing, but in a really good way - just like this poem. As big a fan of carrion and necrophilia as I may be, my favorite line was actually:- "even in death I can't talk to you straight". It says much (the heart of the conundrum) and can be taken in mulitiple contexts - something I'm always a fan of... Again, an excellent work.
