Look at that butterfly
fluttering its wings
basking in the sheer joy of everything
dancing everywhere and back
the boundless breeze its stage
so unafraid, unashamed
to wear its spectra with glee
never minding the solitude
for it's ever free
if only
if only
I could be

Author's Note: I first began writing this poem back in the summer when I was sitting in the grass in my backyard reading the novel Contact, then I happened to see this butterfly hover around me. Its nature was captivating and inspired this little poem.

I love getting ideas like that. It's usually some of the best stuff. Awesome work.

if it was butterfly that inspired this work, then I must look for butterfly to inspire my own and dispense with the muse, who of late has been lying down on the job.
