by John Herzog

Look at that butterfly
fluttering its wings
basking in the sheer joy of everything
dancing everywhere and back
over the boundless breeze
unafraid, unashamed
to wear its spectra with glee
no matter the solitude

Author's Note: I first began writing this poem back in the summer when I was sitting in the grass in my backyard reading the novel Contact, then I happened to see this butterfly hover around me. Its nature was captivating and inspired this little poem.

I love getting ideas like that. It's usually some of the best stuff. Awesome work.
