Secret Love Poem

by Lyss Copeland

There's a reason why I need you.
While your closed eyes hum with the music
Perpetually dancing behind your lips,
I smile and my heart taps along,
Swaying to the beat of your drumming voice.
When your eyes open, the music of your mind
Pours out in quarter beats and whole notes;
Your eyes gleam with their own radiant song
And I can't resist it.
My soul swells and thumps and twirls and sings
Whenever your taut, smooth skin brushes against mine;
Yet, I must resist it.
While I rock to your addicting melody, another musician
Stands to the side, bowing across my heart strings.
However, you tap the valves deep within me.
With a word, a look, a touch, a smile,
The music flares within me,
Begging to be released from my lips
And crescendo to a wonderful pinnacle.
Should my lips ever touch yours;
And should my hand ever caress your cheek;
And should my body ever be pulled into your arms,
And my music can blend and harmonize with your song,
Then I would be beyond happy:
I would be at peace.
But, for now, I'm happy just humming,
Filling my need for your voice
By listening to, rather than playing,
Your music within me.

I think you've just redefined the word 'love' and in such a beautiful manner. And who says you love more than one person at a time. Sometimes it takes time to establish a commitment.
