almost humerus*

by Lauren Singer

arrogance comes with disregarded accolades.
denial and vanity teaming so fierce.
the battle a bite in the ass
come some ill-fated friday that
sends the left-lane lincoln mercury
straight towards your blind spot,
threatening your legal right of way
only to keep cascading through the light as
you collide right into her.

your broken arm the one reminder
passed 'always buckle up'...
that no matter how bad it gets,
it could always be worse.

here's to unanticipated vacation time
and favorable lawsuits.

Author's Note: *the misspelling of the word 'humerous' is intentional, as that is the bone i broke.

I figured it was. Either way, this rocks.

Excellent poem! I hope you heal soon too! Are you typing one-handed?

This is most definitely why your reputation as a great poet flies high. Your word-play in the title drew me in, and sheer raw feeling (include empathy) scorch this poem (and its trip with reality) into my mind.
