the ex is stone silent (but the dialtone rings loud as...)

by Rachelle Howe

Cracking my shin on the mahogany desk,
I stumble forward in my four wall prison,
listening to the ringring in eardrums
threatening to quakeshake and tremble.
Spinspinspining, the room wafts and tumbles,
shakesshimmiesandrolls downdown
beneath my feet, my hands, and I am
drowning in the fermented dance, the
one where my bread limbs are sprawled
sprayedsplayed and I am
wandering through the distance that I
no, wait, I can't find the white light, can't find the
end of the tunnel can't find a way out
can't find the door that'll release me from this labyrinth.
I'm still swimming
deliciously bent in bloody satire,
left as an idol careened across your altar,
idly wondering whether or not you're
going to call back but later
I just hear the sound of the dial tone
from the receiver that I forgot
to put back on the cradle.

Author's Note: the ex is stone silent but the dial tone rings loud as hell is the full title but i wasn't sure if i could have "hell" in the title on the main page.

From grave to cradle, the product of dual incarnations - and it sucks...sucks my brain and liquidises my senses. The nacreous preserve, but with intoxicating finesse - liposeduction...

Yeah, I hear that dialtone. It's the one that comes when a beloved friend hasn't called, right? Miss you, babe.
