Braindead by Angela Nuzzo
I stare
in total awe
over the ignorance
that pours from your mouth.
There can't possibly be
a single thought
behind any word you say.
The bile you spew forth
unto others
drips
with such hatred
and complete lack
of understanding
that it is a miracle
you have not yet gagged
to death
on a mouthful
of your own
vomit.

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/27/07 at 08:45 AM Hah--yes--I agree completely. I can't watch the news either. And I love the stare at the beginning of this--it just draws you in and you can well imagine that mouth moving! |
Posted by Katerina T Nix on 01/28/07 at 02:49 AM A feeling of disgust that I also know too well. Great read, Angela. Well done -Kat :) |

Posted by Laura Doom on 06/03/07 at 11:25 PM Fortunately, I have to admit that 'the news' does not affect me to this extreme [due to the inuring effects of my inherent cynicism] . I have, on rare ocassions, experienced similar feelings towards individuals, but then I'm reluctant to meet ignorance with acknowledgement, so I guess poetry is a cathartic alternative release :) Ignoring all that stuff, the poetry itself achieves the desired impact for me :) |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/06/07 at 05:35 AM It is such an enigma to me... need to watch to stay informed... get depressed and drained of energy when I watch... what to do? Thanks for this honest and forthright expression. |
Posted by George Hoerner on 08/27/09 at 12:33 PM The news is sad but seems to be what most people want to hear. I still believe most people listen to what they want to hear and to what re-inforces those things they already believe. Good write. |
