Loonsong

by William Simpson

Absent moon,

misted skies;

breaking waves,

Calling loon.

Morning soon,

windswept shore;

quiet lake,

Laughing loon.

Songbird's tune,

breaking sky;

night is spent,

Silent loon.

Simply and clearly written brings the scene to a delightful immedicacy.

Well expressed-only those who have truly heard it know its magic.

such rhythm, such sound, surely this music can compete with any in the spheres?

Congratulations on POTD. Loons are such great birds with a song all their own. I love to hear them.

This is beautiful. It's the kind of poem I think of when I think of why I love poetry. A new favorite.
