before november

by Lauren Singer

he was october in my bed,
drank from a chipped wine glass
and chewed his oranges
until they were juice
running between his teeth,
and he would smile and
he'd mean it and
at night we would go swimming
and the water just between us
would run trickled over bodies
and we'd shiver from the ripples
and run finger tips on surface
of the running lake we'd bathe in
and he'd tell me i was crazy
and i knew that i believed him
cause i never could deny it
just close my eyes and kiss him.

combined with the song i'm listening to, this is the most relaxing love poems i've ever read
