Just Smile (or Don't Make A Drama Out Of A Midlife Crisis)

by Dave Fitzgerald

I looked up on a shelf
To see if I could find myself
But I was left without a doubt
That my shelf-life had run out.

I checked in the mirror but I wasn't there.
The bloke staring back had no hair,
Feet 'round his eyes from a murder of crows
And hairs sprouting from his ears and nose!

Then I saw mischief behind the eyes
And realised to my surprise
That though I'm wrinkled and low on hair
Just make me smile, the boy's still there.

So true David...and well resolved in your S3. Just wait till you start to hear your favorite songs....in elevators.

Yep- it was you- a little older, wiser and perhaps grayer and a few more wrinles- but the essence is still you- the boy inside the man. Another enjoyable read- thanks!

What a joyful one about aging...on the outside... the spirit is eternal and will always be in the present... so thats a comfort.. for sure... and when you think about it, we are really spirit beings merely inhabiting these homes we call our bodies... thanks for sharing.. alisa..;-0
