it's not all that glamorous

by Lauren Singer

and when it's gotten to the point
to be 11:30 on a saturday night
and you're crawling around your bedroom floor
convinced that you're just a melting shell
and you're looking at your fingers
wondering when they may turn into clay...

that you have to stop getting lost in the mirror
and say to yourself
that it's really not that glamorous,
is it?

Lauren, you caught me off guard with this wonderful off-the-cuff-down-to-earth-how-can-I-really-feel-this-way-but-I-do read. The last stanza time-warped me and my emotions ran high. Thank you.
